Premium black paper bag with twisted handles
Black kraft paper, twisted handles. The colour signals “premium” or “dark roast” before anything is printed on it. Most brands that order black don’t print their logo white — they go for gold or copper foil, or a deep emboss on the kraft. Three sizes.
The dark-roast specialty signature
If you sell single-origin dark-roast coffee, this is the bag almost everyone in your category eventually orders. The visual association is hard-wired — dark equals strong, black equals premium roast. We’ve watched several specialty roasters switch from natural kraft to black and report a noticeable upgrade in perceived brand position from their retail customers.
Gold and copper foil on black
Black is the substrate where foil stamping looks best. Gold reads as classic luxury. Copper reads as artisan-luxury — less aristocratic, more handmade. Both options need minimum-order quantities (typically 1,000+) for cost-effective tooling, but the visual return justifies the lead time. We mock both options on actual paper before commitment.
What about white print on black
It works but doesn’t have the same impact as foil. Best for non-luxury black-bag uses — natural wine, dark chocolate — where you want black as a visual quietness rather than a luxury signal. Two-colour screen print (white plus a metallic) is a compromise that several customers use.
