What Size Pouch Do I Need for Pet food?
Products are normally sold by weight, while flexible packaging is specified by volume. Because bulk density varies from product to product, the same weight can require very different pouch sizes.
As a starting point, extruded dry kibble typically has a bulk density of approximately 0.35–0.45 g/ml. We also recommend leaving sufficient headspace so the pouch can be filled and the zipper or top seal closed comfortably.
