What Size Pouch Do I Need for Nuts?
Products are normally sold by weight, while flexible packaging is specified by volume. Because bulk density varies from product to product, the same weight can require very different pouch sizes.
As a starting point, whole roasted nuts typically have a bulk density of approximately 0.45–0.65 g/ml (almonds and peanuts sit near the top of the range, walnut halves near the bottom). We also recommend leaving sufficient headspace so the pouch can be filled and the zipper or top seal closed comfortably.
